TTVH would like to encourage pet owners to make dental care a priority.  Dental health is very important to a pet's overall health.  Proper dental care will help owners to prevent periodontal disease resulting in a longer & healthier life. 

Dental problems can arise when food particles and bacteria build up in the mouth forming plaque and tartar.  This can lead to gingivitis.  Periodontal disease can lead to tooth decay, halitosis (bad breath), bleeding gums and tooth loss.  Additionally, bacteria that cause periodontal disease can enter the bloodstream resulting in liver, kidney and/or heart problems.
